For Luck at Epiphany

Epiphany celebrates the visit of the Maji to the baby Jesus and marks the end of the holidays.
Traditional fare is a cake with a lucky bean baked in it. Bake a mocha or spice cake with a whole coffee bean in the batter.

As a nod to the three wise men, bring three of anything as a hostess gift. Three bags of spiced nuts, three bottles of sparkling cider, or three different breads would be appropriate. Nosemakers are also traditional, to discourage the evil spirits.

To avoid bad luck, you should take down all Christmas greenery today.

Remedies that Work

COLDS

There's a good reason that mothers have long recommended chicken soup as a cold remedy. Studies have confirmed that warm chicken soup increases the activity of antiviral immune cells and also reduces throat and sinus inflammation.
What to Do:
Eat a bowl of chicken soup twice daily at the first sign of a cold.

Do More:

Add a pinch of cayenne to chicken soup. It will reduce congestion as effectively as over-the-counter {OTC) medications.
